Book Sharing Monday - Bartleby Speaks

This is a repeat read from our local library in our house. Bartleby Speaks by Robin Cruise is a story about a little boy who has never spoken a word. Everyone tries to get him to speak but he just won't. In the end they learn that we can't rush someone to do something. They'll do it when they are ready and that is just what Bartleby does.

My Computer isn't Well

I know that my blogging has slowed. This is because Blogger changed the program that is used to bring in images and my computer is somehow not compatible to that new feature. I've been going through long tedious processes to get images on my blog. Now my computer isn't doing well at all so my blogging will slow even more and maybe even drop off until I am able to get a new computer. I will still be reading others' blog entries and I have a bunch of Book Sharing Monday's that I've posted on a schedule that I think you'll enjoy. I'll be back fully when I get a new computer. Book Sharing Monday - Bone Soup

Do you know the classic story "Stone Soup"? It's a story about a hungry traveler who can't find anyone in a small town to share food and by starting soup with a stone and some water in a pot right in the middle of town the townsfolk become curious and end up sharing small amounts of food each until the pot is full of mouth watering soup that the whole town shares with each other. 

Bone Soup is an altered version of that story that we love to read each year for Halloween. Check it out for yourself! We think you'll love it!

Are we Really Sewing?!

Austyn and Zoe have asked more than once to sew up a pillow or stuffed animal. I'm not a very crafty person, so I'm a bit surprised and excited that I got everything ready and got them sewing. It's only felt pillows but it's a start.

I had a little plastic needle for Zoe but I couldn't get the holes punched in the felt so I let her use a regular needle. Actually on the first try I let her use a needle work needle which isn't as pointy. She loved it. She has made another pillow since this. 

Austyn enjoys it as well and so do I because it seems to have a calming activity for them both. My kids are energetic and loud most of the day and this is a time where they seem to naturally sit quietly and concentrate.

Book Sharing Monday - Pearl Barley and Charlie Parsley

Pearl Barley and Charlie Parsley by Aaron Blabey is such a great book for showing how two totally different people can be such great friends. 

When two people have such different personalities they can really compliment each other.

She Did It!

Our little girl is growing up! She got her ears pierced today! She has been bugging us for the past couple of days to go and do it and when we don't leave right away she gets so upset. We discussed it with her to be sure that she really did understand that it hurts and that it requires some care. What a big girl! She was so excited sitting in the chair waiting for them to prepare and she made sure that they had a mirror handy. It did hurt and she cried a bit (so did I) and she was still brave enough to go ahead and get the other ear done. I'm so proud of her!

She was in a hurry to go see her friend next door in the top picture so she was rushing me to take a picture, hence the "come on and hurry up Mom" face. LOL!
