Exploring the Backyard.

This shows our gourds dried and ready to shake out the seeds.

This is our old Nile project.

This is our garden with some compost piled on it.

This is a close up of some plants growing under the leaves and snow in the garden.

The kids picked some of the green leaves and tasted them. It looks like parsley.

Austyn found a maple key on the ground.

When picking up things on the lawn we found a slug under an old pot.

These are some pumpkins we kept to collect the seeds from.

The kids are looking at our sunflowers. This one managed to keep some seeds that the yellow finches didn't eat.

Here is a close up of the seeds.

Zoe picked one.

Exploring the backyard can be so educational. Just in a matter of minutes look at what we found!

Lego officially organized!

It took a while but here is our complete Lego collection organized in drawers. Some of the drawers are so full they are difficult to open so I may have to get another drawer, knowing that we'll likely be adding to the collection.

(I know I've used this one before, but it's one of my favourites!)

End Of Winter Nature Hike.

We went on a nature hike with some homeschool friends. The weather has been so beautiful here in Southwestern Ontario. There is still snow everywhere but it's melting. The ground is soft and muddy in areas, but we managed. I now have to laugh... we had a couple of mishaps due to the slippery conditions. One person fell in the mud and Zoe slipped into the creek soaking her entire foot and part way up her leg. The kids had a great time exploring. It was a wonderful day with friends.

More Lego Creations!

A Coffin with ghosts inside.

An Angel.

A sheriff patrolling in an airplane.

The three people to the left are from the Matrix. Trinity, Neo, and Morpheus. The man on the right is another sheriff.

Indiana Jones and a Soldier.

A Hover Craft.

"Unfortunately, no one can be told what the Matrix is. You have to see it for yourself." ~ Morpheus

Book Sharing Monday

A Visitor for Bear by Bonny Becker is a book that my kids mention again and again. With it's witty story and pictures to match. Their attention is grabbed from the moment I start to read. They likely can relate to the bear, who has a routine and likes to be alone, but keeps finding a mouse in his house and getting him to leave. It is clear that although someone may be stuck in their ways they may someday grow to realize that what is most important to them is "company of another".

We have also read A Birthday for Bear by the same author.

It's a similar story where Bear doesn't want to celebrate his birthday. Instead he is content to just clean the house, but his mouse friend has other ideas.
