Pattern Blocks

 Austyn spent a good portion of a day playing with this pattern block set. This one he memorized and could do without the instructions.

 He copied some of the patterns provided on the sheet that came with the set.

 He made his own patterns and pictures as well. 

Here is a clown. Austyn started it and Zoe and I added elements to improve it. He loved how it turned out with teamwork.

Book Sharing Monday - Birds of Prey

I assume that just about everyone knows who Robert Bateman is. He is a famous nature artist who spent a great deal of time in nature studying animals. Birds of Prey is full of Robert's beautiful, realistic paintings of raptors from all over the world.

He includes important details about each bird and shares his own personal experiences with them.

Be learning about Robert's experiences and his own observations I found that this book evokes more interest in spending more time in nature having our own experiences with these wonderful birds and other animals for that matter.

Robert has been an advocate for getting our Canadian youth outside to experience nature as much as possible. You can be sure that I'll be looking to see if he has written any other books like this one.

Lego Apartment Building with Elevator

 Here is the view of the inside of the apartments. We never did get the walls all the way up but it was still good enough to play with.

The Shrink-Ray!!

 Austyn is always making things he sees in books and movies. This is his shrink ray from the movie "Dispicable Me".

He has a small moon that he shrunk as well and has been playing with both off and on or the past few days. He shows me how it works in detail.



Hockey Skills Improve

Austyn is doing so great with his hockey skills. He has improved so much since we've been here. 

It's only a matter of time before he gets a goal. He was so close, but not yet.

He's Finally Reading!

Austyn finally wants to read! Many months ago I was reading about the Elephant & Piggie Books on Free to Learn an Lovin it. At that point I ordered a bunch of these books and Austyn loved them but still didn't read them much. Now he wants to read and they are his books of choice. He reads them to everyone. Zoe loved it. At one point they were both laughing so hard because the pictures and stories are so funny.

{this moment} - A Friday ritual. A single photo - no words - capturing a moment from the week. A simple, special, extraordinary moment. A moment I want to pause, savor and remember.

While organizing Austyn's room we took a bit of a break and while away from the room our cats made themselves comfortable. Very Comfortable! I couldn't resist. I had to capture their intimate moment!
