Ice Cream Field Trip

Our homeschool group attended a free tour of a homemade ice cream store in our area. We were split into two groups. The first half of our field trip was in the back. We watched ice cream  being made and flavoured. We learned about the special freezers and what the mixer was for. After making the ice cream the machine had to be washed out.

The second half we learned about the different flavours and how they mix up the ingredients by hand into the ice cream on a frozen block. One of the mom's got involved in mixing. We got to taste any flavour we wanted to. One interesting flavour I remember was Apple Spice. They also had white chocolate and many more. We got to eat a fresh cookie and a milk shake. Each child got their own cup of whatever flavour and mixed in ingredients they wanted.

At the end the kids sat together and ate and some of the parents ordered their own things. Kev got a chocolate malt and I got a blueberry milkshake.
