Book Sharing Monday

Edwardo The Horriblest Boy in the Whole Wide World by John Burningham is about a little boy who gets into trouble and is told how terrible he is.

Here is a quote from the book:

Occasionally Edwardo was not very nice to animals and would chase the cat.
"You are a cruel boy, Edwardo, chasing the cat. You are the cruelest boy in the whole wide world." Edwardo became more and more cruel.

Later in the book Edwardo does nice things. Sometimes he does these things without intention. Here is another quote from the book:

Cruel Edwardo was waiting for the dog with a bucket of water. He threw it over the dog as it came by.
"Thank you so much, Edwardo, for washing my muddy dog for me. You are so good with animals."
And so Edwardo was asked to clean and look after everybody's pets.

This book is a good example of how sometimes when we feel like we are terrible or are told how terrible we are we become more terrible and once everyone notices our good points or when people compliment us we improve in those areas.

Sounds like a good book for adults too! I love John Burningham's books. Granpa always makes me cry though.
