This is a cute story about a boy who stays at his grandmothers' house and is frightened by the squeaking door. He can't sleep so the grandmother gives him different animals to sleep with and in the end the problem is fixed. You will love how it ends up.

Book Sharing Monday - Love Your World

This is a good book to introduce being good to the environment for young children. It could give your young family ideas for Earth Day. 

The pictures are fun and the text is short for easily distracted minds. This book goes right to the point so that each idea is made clear without all of the extra information that an older child might want. 

Many simple things that a child could do to save the environment are introduced in this book so that everyone in the family (even your youngest) can feel like they are doing their part.

Disney Nature Chimpanzee Movie on Earth Day

Disney has done it again! They have created another movie to open Earth Day, 2012.
Watch this movie on it's opening week and Disney will donate money to the Jane Goodall Institute.

Disney has an educators guide for grades 2-6 HERE. I have posted this in advanced and notice that the educational link on their website isn't complete yet, but am hopeful that it'll be fine by the time I post this. I also found another educational link for chimpanzees HERE.

Book Sharing Monday - ScaryPeople

The Little Bit Scary People by Emily Jenkins is a book that teaches that even though someone might seem scary or different the person is a person like anyone else and when they go home they do the same things that anyone would do. They are just like you and I.

I have a child who tends to get scared of some people and this is a great way to talk about and learn that everyone is the same, but sometimes we perceive them as scary.

Moving Day is Coming Soon!

I haven't been posting. I've noticed mistakes in recent posts that I blame on posting too quickly. I figure it's a good time for a break from posting here. I've been making it my priority to get the kids out as much as possible, right now. We have joined a homeschool co-op, we've been taking hikes, going to the park, taking walks along the river, traveling, playing at McDonald's, fossil searches in the field, hockey, library visits, and the list goes on. We move next week. When I get a chance I'll type an update.

Book Sharing Monday - The Spring Equinox

 We borrowed this book from the library to learn more for a deeper understanding of The Mystery Class. 

The great thing about this book is that it shares the celebrations and myths that were created and celebrated in the past around the equinox. What a great book to read in March!

The Flea's Sneeze did so much more than you would think. There is a fun chain of reaction here that my kids loved. The illustrated animals make this story so fun.
