Book Sharing Monday - So You Want To Be An Inventor?

Do you have a wanna-be inventor in your home? I do! So this book was very enjoyable. 

What a great way to learn about how different common products today were invented. Where did the idea come from? How old was the person? Did the product take off right away? Who got the credit for it? Did they have a degree?

You will be surprised at the answers to many of the above questions. Many of the inventors were in their teens with no degree. Some inventors didn't get credit for their inventions and some inventions that turned out to be great things didn't take off at first. 

Life today would not be what it is without the inventions of the past.

Book Sharing Monday - Franklin's Big Dreams

Franklin has the strangest dreams. 

 He had a recurring theme in his dreams where a man showed  up, wrecking his bedroom and making his room into something else all together where trains and other transportation roared through. When the people got to where they were going things were put back to normal for a while...

 ... until another dream with that same man came into his head again. Each time something went through his room he saw someone familiar and in the end he figured out something important about the dreams. 

I took Dream and Myth in College and know from that and my further studies into dreams that this is common with many people who remember their dreams. There is a recurring theme until the main discovery is made about why that dream exists and then the dreams are done. Both of my children remember their dreams and found this book fascinating.

Big Decisions = Less Blogging

We have made some big decisions that will affect our lives dramatically in the future. In order to follow the flow of what we would like to do as a family there are some things that I need to attend to. While I work on our plans for the future my blogging will slow down.

Hmmm... I'm sure some of you can guess what we are planning. Most would say we are crazy, but we feel that it's what we want to do and if we can find a way to do it, why not? I think about what regrets people have when they are dying and usually they say things like "I wish I spent more time with my family" or " I wish I didn't work so much" or "I wish I did...... because that would have been so wonderful and I always wanted to do that".

We are following our dreams instead of the flow of society and what is expected of us. I know that we will do it. It's only a matter of time.

Book Sharing Monday - The Sound of Colors

I'm not sure if any of you know a child with sight problems, but if you do this book would have added value. The Sound of Colors A Journey of the Imagination by Jimmy Liao takes you on a journey through the experiences of a little girl who is living with sight that is slipping away.

She ventures out and takes the subway, where she can almost hear the colours that are around her.

 She imagines amazing places around her during her subway visits and shares what she sees in her mind with you. I recommend her story to everyone. It is an inspiring book and will open your mind to how it might be for a young girl to live in the city without sight.
