Acting and Dancing!

Since we are not packing, on our way to Florida, or already there this year, we were able to go and take advantage of the "After Halloween Sales". At Value Village we purchased a bunch of costumes and Halloween decorations at unbelievable prices. The kids dressed up as soon as we arrived home. They played their parts as soon as they were in the new outfits. These seem to be the favourites!

Our continents are growing!

The Southern Continents seem to be growing the best and the areas that are connected to the wick inside that soaks up the water.

Soap Monster!

One of the books Austyn purchased this week for his Birthday was a Science Experiment book. It is full of fun activities. One was a Soap Monster. We placed a bar of soap (Actually we did two bars). Turn the microwave on high for 2 minutes and quickly you see the bar blow up into this big blob of mess that gets all over the plate and the microwave. We were to let it cool for a minute or two and shape it into a monster. The kids just liked seeing the effect the microwave had on it and they ended up into other activities and left the blobs. Well, they hardened and when you try and shape them they just crumble into tiny flakes. Zoe put the flakes into bags so we can do something with them later. Maybe we can make more soap with them or maybe we can experiment with soap. Not sure yet. We have two Zip Lock bags full though. One thing to note is that if you have scented soap and want to try this, it will smell up the house. I was starting to get a headache from the smell. We used Ivory. It worked well.

Happy Halloween!!

I really need to get these kids into drama. They really love to act! Here they are ready to go out trick-or-treating. They changed their minds about what they wanted to be for Halloween. We didn't have to purchase any costumes. We had enough costumes here for them to choose from. I keep face paint here as well.

It was a fairly busy night last night. We had 150 kids come to our house.

Pumpkin Fun!

We didn't get pumpkins until Halloween. We went shopping for books for Austyn since he got a book gift card for his birthday and on our way home we picked up some pumpkins.Wow! We may not have gotten the best pumpkins of the season, but they sure are cheap if you get them on Halloween! This was the first year that the kids drew their own face to be cut out. It was a bit of a challenge to figure out just how to cut out their faces, but I did it. So each of them had a pumpkin and the other was mine and Daddys. I drew the face and he cut it out. It was a fun family time. The kids were a bit hesitant about sticking their hands into the pumpkins, but they did it. I collected some seeds and roasted them with some butter and salt like every year and just like every other year they still don't like them. At least I tried. I'll do it again next year. It's tradition.

The Flat House!

This is the flat house that Austyn and Zoe made in the basement. We've not used the mats to build with for a long time. I can see Austyn's building skills have improved. I hardly had to help at all. I'm so proud of him!

Fun Halloween Outing!

We went to a local indoor zoo with some homeschool friends. We haven't gone all summer so it was nice to go again. The kids had a great time.

The most notable fun ended up to be the goats. The white one loved to play games. The black one liked to climb and wanted to eat one of our kids. And Zoe decided she wanted to ride one and it really didn't seem to mind at all. LOL!
