World Spelling Day 2012

Last year was the first year that World Spelling Day was held. We registered and enjoyed it. Just like World Math Day (which is held the day after) it is a worldwide contest that each child or class room participates in to gain as many correct answers for their country. On World Spelling Day they have 24 hours to answer questions online. There is also an app available for iPad and iPhone to gain access from anywhere. From today on they can practice online to get ready for the day. Classrooms can raise donations for UNICEF. Registration starts today! Click HERE for more information or to register.

World Math Day 2012

For the past couple of years we have participated in World Math Day. It is a worldwide, online contest that is hosted by a different city every year. You can register your children or class room and on World Math Day, which will be held on March 7th, 2012, they have 24 hours to answer as many questions at their current level as they can. They are competing for their country and the program keeps track of the amount of currect answers. Kids can start to practice on the online site well in advanced. There is also an app that can be downloaded so that they can practice and participate on an iPod or iPad. Funds can be raised to be donated to UNICEF if it is a classroom registering. Registration and practice starts today! Click HERE for more information or to register.

Book Sharing Monday - The Trouble With Dragons

If you talk about the importance of doing things that protect the environment this book is a wonderful choice to read to your children.

This story is all about how dragons took over the world and mistreated it. They disliked the changes and needed to learn how to be more friendly to their world so that it was a happier place to live.
