Transportation Co-Op - Boats

Today the Boat Co-Op went well. The kids rotated from station to station. They did experiments (building/testing boats), read stories, did crafts, worked on work sheets, cooked mini wheel pizzas and played with a model boat outside on a pond.

Would you like to do one of the experiments we did at our Co-Op? This seemed to be the favourite. It is set up to be a challenge and instead of teams we let them do it individually. Here is the link to the experiment.

Austyn's Menu

Austyn decided yesterday that he wanted to play with our kitchen in the basement. He wanted to cook me food. This lead to the idea of having a restaurant and he'd serve me food. This idea lead to the idea that he'd need a menu and he'd serve Daddy food instead. So, we got to work making a menu from the items he had available in his kitchen. This is a HUGE break-through for us since he really shows little to no interest in printing words.

I rarely had to point out mistakes as he went along. He noticed his mistakes in most instances and tried to remember to do the letter correctly the next time he needed to write it.  He was very specific with his items. When I'd suggest a shorter version (eg. juice instead of grape juice, or beef instead of corned beef) he refused to take the easy road and wanted to be sure that the menu was done correctly and that the items listed were specific to what he had in his kitchen.

I felt SO PROUD of him!!!

I am so proud I almost forgot to add a quote here! LOL!

I signed us up!

We joined the 100 Books-A-Month Challenge.

Before we joined I already had decided at the beginning of this month that I would keep track of the books we read. I had already started compiling a list. We are to record all of the books we have read and if we read them over we count each time the book is read. For novels we count each chapter as a book. I am proud to report that we have already reached over 100 for November!

Book Sharing Monday

Too Many Toys by David Shannon
is a book that I picked out at the library for Austyn when he was too sick to come with us. It was PERFECT because I say we have too many toys ALL THE TIME. As anyone who has been to our house knows... WE HAVE ALOT OF TOYS! LOL!! When Austyn saw this book I had him read the cover and once he realized what the title was, he looked at me with a funny look and started to laugh. In fact I think this is the first book he actually sat down and looked at without me there. He went right away to the couch with this book and flipped through the pages all on his own. For this reason, I think this book bumps ahead of the others I had on my list of books to share.

It's a well illustrated story about the struggle between a child and his mother about the amount of toys they have. At the end there is a cute twist.

I hope you like this book. We loved it and it's now on our wish list.
